Sketchbook Cover Name Design!

Students began the year with an ELEMENTS OF ART REVIEW and SKETCHBOOK COVER NAME DESIGN!  Students utilized Elements of Art!:

-Line   (variation)

-Shape (pattern and space)

-Color (Mixing and blending)

-Value (Gradients tints and Shades)

Sketchbooks will be used through the year for planning worksheets, Artist statements, sketching, and preliminary sketches!

Primary Color, Blending,  Value Changes, and Paint tin Use Review!

2017-2018 School year

4th Grade Animal Morphing Silhouettes

-4th Grade Student artists will decide on an animal that represents their personality through sharing similar ‘character traits’  

-Students will discuss and identify the Elements of Art within their animal through drawing from observation- Line, shape, color, value, texture, and form. 

-Students will draw their animal in profile view and pair it with their silhouette.

- Students will paint a base color in the shape of their animal’s profile, then add value, texture and details which will create form.

Students are starting their year off by learning about and practicing Art Classroom Routines and ROAR expectations!  We all have made a Name Tag- Sketchbook that we will use throughout the year to brainstorm and plan our CREATIONS! The sketchbook shows our name and symbols that represent ourself! We will add to our sketchbook covers throughout the school year as we learn more about expressing ourself through art!

Keith Haring Inspired Activism Clay Slab Sculpture

4th Grade Students Discussed Keith Haring's Style, use of Figures, Symbols, and Movement with Motion Lines withing his work! Students Planned a Positive Message within their work that might inspire someone who sees it.  We are inspired by Keith HAring;s public works which utilize figures, Movement, and symbols to create a positive impact or change!

Chip Board Self Portrait Sculptures!

4th Grade Artists are creating a 3D Chipboard Self Portrait Sculpture!  Studetns are first practicing facial proportions in their sketchbook and observing their face in a mirror to make it look like them!  Students will then start to cut out chip board and paper peices to make a MONOCHROMATIC chipboard and black marker self-portrait! :)

4th Grade Damien Hirst Inspired Unit!

 

4th Graders are analyzing, discussing, and learning about Damien Hirst's Artwork!

 

We are also learning about and utilizing ANALOGOUS COLOR SCHEMES!

 

We will use an analogous color scheme to paint our circle 'spin artwork' painted with water colors, marble painting, and dot painting to create contrast and an analogous abstract artwork!
